Dina started her career at Stony Brook University in 2002 as an Admissions Counselor in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. In addition to recruiting new students and evaluating student applications, Dina directed the Accelerated College Education (ACE) Program which trains High School teachers to deliver SBU curriculum for credit at their own High School. She also directed the AP Summer Institutes, sponsored by the College Board (CB), hosting workshops on both the Stony Brook and Southampton campuses. Dina’s CB Education Manager nominated her as a best-practices mentor, allowing her to share event planning tips with other campuses who were hosting AP Institutes for the first time. Dina also coordinated a wide range of Admissions events for guidance counselors and prospective students, including the annual campus-wide Open House, attended by over 5,000 people.
In 2017, Dina was delighted to join the Alda Center and bring her event planning experience to the Workshops Office. Her favorite part of the job is talking to scientists, engineers, and other researchers who are hoping to share the story of their work with the world. Making that first connection between STEM researchers and the Alda team, Dina enjoys introducing new people to the Alda Method® so they can tell us all what they do and why it matters.
An advocate for getting involved, Dina has been a member of Stony Brook’s Student Affairs Professional Development Committee, the Summer Celebration Committee, the Outstanding Service Awards Committee, and the Merit Awards Committee of the Western Suffolk Counselors Association.
