Kate Bredbenner

bredbennerKate Bredbenner is a graduate student at Rockefeller University studying HIV virus assembly using cutting-edge microscopy. She specifically studies how new HIV viruses are put together on the surface of infected cells.

In addition to doing science in the lab, Kate also likes talking about science with all kinds of people. She is currently using social media to reach non-science adults via her YouTube channel SimpleBiologist. On her channel, she explains newly published scientific papers in short animated videos which are fun to watch and easy to understand. Kate also promotes diversity in science through her position as the President of Women in Science at Rockefeller.
