Join Us for CommUniversity Day September 27!
September 17, 2025
Dear Stony Brook Community,
I am thrilled to attend my first CommUniversity Day on Saturday, September 27 on our main campus at the Academic Mall. These first weeks of my presidency have driven home the warm and welcoming nature of our community, not just among Seawolves, but also with our local neighbors. I can’t wait to witness this camaraderie on display at CommUniversity Day. I hope you will join me in celebrating this spirit and building new connections with our valued Long Island neighbors and friends at this joyous event.
CommUniversity Day, which is free and open to the public, is a dynamic event where we showcase many of the things that make Stony Brook unique. To show our appreciation to the entire community, our students, faculty, healthcare heroes, first responders, campus partners and community organizations have put together countless interactive activities for the public, including a teddy bear clinic, instrument petting zoo, marching band performances and health screenings along with games and giveaways. I am particularly excited to see creative visions come to life at the LEGO Competition. Please find more information here for event details.
CommUniversity Day is just one way that Seawolves demonstrate the positive impact Stony Brook has on our broader community. Look out for a survey coming to your inboxes to share more about how you are serving as a bridge beyond the university.
I encourage you to bring your family, friends and colleagues to enjoy the CommUniversity Day festivities, by learning a new skill, meeting our campus-wide partners or joining in on friendly competitions with your fellow Seawolves. CommUniversity Day conveniently falls during another treasured Stony Brook tradition, Family Weekend, and our football team also hosts a game against Merrimack at 3:30 pm that I plan to attend (Go Seawolves!). I know your energy and passion will enhance this year’s CommUniversity Day and other campus events that day.
Thank you to all of our community members who make CommUniversity Day possible. I look forward to seeing you soon!
Sincerely,
Andrea Goldsmith, President
